Chromite flour as colorant for glass tableware

Chromite powder is an important ore powder, which is made from chromium ore through grinding, screening and other processes. Chromium ore powder has a variety of uses, mainly in metallurgy, chemical industry, building materials, glass, ceramics, magnetic materials, environmental protection and other fields.

Chromite powder, also known as chromite ore powder, is an inorganic compound used as a pigment and an important component in some high-performance refractory materials. Its chemical composition is Cr2O3. Chromite is the only naturally occurring chromium ore, which exists with iron oxide and has a melting point of 2040°C.
–Chromite powderhas fairly good long-term stability, which makes it very suitable for use as a pigment in paints, inks and especially glass. Chromium powder has long been the preferred pigment for the production of green glass, it is  used to color container glass.

— Chromite powder can provide the same benefits to the ceramic industry and produce a gray body. It can also be used to make glazes for ceramics, which are often green, and the principle is similar to when chromite ore powder is used as a glass pigment. In terms of crystallization ability, chromite can be used as a source of iron oxide, and although chromite has an extremely high melting point, the activation energy for crystallization decreases with increasing chromite content. Therefore, using chromite as a glaze has the potential to improve the quality of low-end ceramics.
